I first heard Mr. James CD that I found in my brother’s collection and just so happen ran across another of this infamous, magnificient musician that his music is so moving and inspiring. I wish he had a month long workshop so I can learn from the best of God’s giving talent. Though most of the songs don’t have words they are beautiful enough to just listen to just to relax. Keep up the good work.

I hope that you will schedule another concert in West Michigan. I saw you years ago in Grand Rapids and I have been waiting for a return performance ever since! Any concert in the Great Lakes Region (your home turf!) will be attended by myself and dozens of my friends. I’ve been a fan since BJ4 and will remain so well past the day you decide to stop tickling the keys. You are one of the best!

I was a little surprised to hear in the commentary about “Three” that it didn’t sell well or get much attention at the time. I remember hearing it on black radio when I was a kid in LA. I got “Three” before I got “One” or “Two” — it had the songs I was most familiar with, “Westchester Lady” & “Storm King.” The cover was also iconic for me. The association with Grover Washington Jr. and the CTI sound in general probably helped get airplay on the stations I listened to (pre-wave format.)
One question: who is the DRUMMER on “Mardi Gras?” Would that be Steve Gadd?

I know that the Four Play visited Japan last year, but I did not know about the Iwate Jazz Festival and Bob was participated it as well. This is a very good video. Behalf of all the Japanese people, I would like to say,

Bob, Hopw you will get out with the guys this fall and consider performing at the Pawleys Festival of Music and Art. Past headliners have been Spyro, Bela, Branford, Mangione. Festival is in early October. Check their website. Haven’t seen you since you and the Flamingos did the Jasmine in Myrtle Beach. I cooked for you that night – and y’all cooked for us!!!!!!!!!
